Celebrate Your Child's Birthday Morning with these Fun Memory Making Traditions!

Updated: Apr 10

I have been lucky enough to grow up with an amazing mother that always made me feel so special for our milestones, birthdays, and special events such as Christmas and Easter. They are such treasured memories of me, and this is something that I want to pass onto my children.

A child's birthday is a special occasion filled with joy, excitement, and love. And I just love starting the day with delightful surprises and fun activities as I feel it sets the tone for a memorable day.  They are what I call… THE MEMORY MAKERS!

Come explore my top fun trends to celebrate your child's birthday morning, ensuring a fantastic start to their special day.

1. Breakfast in Bed:

Wake up your little one with a delicious breakfast in bed. Prepare their favourite morning meal, complete with pancakes, fresh fruit, and a cup of hot chocolate. Decorate the tray with colourful balloons, flowers, a small birthday banner, and a special birthday note. It's a cute gesture that shows them how much they mean to you.

2. Birthday Balloon Avalanche:

Create a spectacular moment of surprise with a balloon avalanche. Fill large garbage bags with balloons and tape them to the top of the bedroom door frame. When your child opens the door, they'll be greeted with a cascade of balloons falling into the room. It's an exciting way to kick-start the birthday festivities.

3. Personalized Birthday Countdown:

Build anticipation in the days leading up to the birthday by creating a personalized countdown. Use a chalkboard or a whiteboard to write down the number of days left until the big day. Decorate it with balloons, streamers, and colourful markers. Each morning, update the countdown together, making it a fun ritual for the entire family.

4. Bedroom Suprise:

Transform your child's bedroom into a birthday wonderland while they sleep. Hang streamers, place balloons on the floor, and cover their bed with confetti-filled sheets. As they wake up, they'll be greeted by a room filled with joy and excitement, creating an unforgettable start to their special day.

5. Birthday Morning Scavenger Hunt:

Engage your child's sense of adventure by organizing a birthday morning scavenger hunt. Hide clues throughout the house, leading them to small surprises or special birthday activities. Use balloons as markers for each clue, making the hunt even more exciting and colourful.

6. Balloon Wishes:

Give your child the gift of love and well wishes with balloon wishes. Write heartfelt messages on small pieces of paper and insert them into deflated balloons. Inflate the balloons and place them in their bedroom or the living room. Throughout the day, your child can pop the balloons and read the messages.

7. Morning Dance Party:

Start the day with an energetic dance party. Create a playlist of your child's favourite songs and dance together as a family. Fill the room with balloons and use glow sticks or disco lights for added excitement. It's a fun and active way to celebrate and get the day off to a fun start.

8. DIY Birthday Breakfast Bar:

Set up a DIY breakfast bar with a variety of toppings and ingredients for your child to create their special breakfast. Provide pancakes or waffles, along with various toppings such as fruits, syrups, and sprinkles. Decorate the breakfast bar with balloons and colourful tableware, adding a festive touch to the meal.

9. Birthday Morning Photo Shoot:

Capture precious memories by organizing a birthday morning photo shoot. Set up a backdrop… I love to use a DIY Garland with their favourite colours.  Dress your child in their favourite outfit and snap adorable pictures to commemorate the special day.  My favourite is to have a confetti-filled balloon and take a snapshot of their face when you pop it.

10. Birthday Balloon Bunch:

Jumbo foils just scream fun!  So why not surprise them on their birthday morning with a super large foil balloon number or shape such as a mermaid or dinosaur.

Over a lifetime, we don’t have that many years that our babies are home with us and we can make these core memory moments.  So, take advantage of the now and make it extra special!!
